Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: April 2026
Welcome to Mike Scarano Therapy. By using this website and engaging in my therapeutic services, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following Terms and Conditions. Please review them carefully.
1. Professional Standards
I am a fully accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. My practice is regularly supervised by a qualified clinical supervisor to ensure the highest standards of safety and professional care.
2. Not an Emergency Service
Please note that Mike Scarano Therapy is not a crisis or emergency service. I am unable to provide out-of-hours emergency support. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, feeling actively suicidal, or require immediate medical assistance, you must contact emergency services (999 in the UK), go to your nearest A&E, or contact a crisis line such as the Samaritans (116 123) immediately.
3. Sessions, Appointments & Cancellations
- Scheduling: Sessions are typically 50 minutes in duration (unless agreed otherwise for EMDR processing) and take place weekly at a mutually agreed time.
- Lateness: If you arrive late, the session will still conclude at the standard scheduled finish time.
- Cancellation Policy: A minimum of 48 hours notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice will be charged at the full session rate regardless of the reason.
- Therapist Cancellations: I will provide as much notice as possible for planned holidays or unavoidable cancellations. You will not be charged for any sessions cancelled by myself.
4. Fees and Payment
Session fees are established prior to our therapeutic contract. Payment is required either in advance via bank transfer or at the end of the session. I reserve the right to review and adjust fees annually, providing clients with at least one month's advance notice of any planned increase.
5. Confidentiality
The therapeutic relationship is strictly confidential. Information will not be disclosed to third parties without your explicit consent, with the exception of serious legal or safeguarding concerns (where there is a significant risk of harm to yourself or others), or within the context of anonymous clinical supervision. For detailed information, please refer to my Privacy Policy.
6. Use of the Website
The content provided on this website is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute professional psychological or medical advice. I accept no liability for any reliance placed on educational or blog content provided herein.
7. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions, and any therapeutic agreements established, are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
